I sometimes wonder when my interest in design really began. I think the signs were there since I could hold a crayon in my hand; I've always loved arts and crafts, and any other kind of expression (writing, playing music, singing... even if poorly). I ended up teaching myself HTML in grade seven and since then, my passion for learning how to do more with my skills hasn't ebbed; I feel that with each new technique I learn or project I complete, I become even more excited about design.
I'm currently working on getting my Bachelor of Design degree from York University/Sheridan College's joint program in graphic design in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I grew up in the United States, and I feel like the experience of living in another country while going to school there is like an added bonus to my awesome university education.
Recently, I have been introduced to interaction design, information architecture, and design research in university. I've realized that the planning and research areas of design are the ones that I am most passionate about because of my desire to understand, organize, and conceptualize new ideas and interactions.
My hobbies outside of design are playing the viola, playing the guitar, crocheting, writing, reading (especially neuroscience/psychology books), photography, and playing video games.
